Over two days, we will discover the wild beauty of the Cragieburn Valley through the lens of an artist.
I have carefully curated a 2 day painting retreat, where we will paint the picturesque Lake Grasmere accessable only through private farmland.
No experience necessary - this retreat suits beginners as well as confident artists.
I will take you through my entire painting process beginning from scene selection, photographing for painting references, all my materials, and
how to use them to create a realistic look and feel in your oil paintings.
The tips and tricks you will learn can be universally applied to any painting.
Your Instructor
I am an experienced, award winning realism artist.
For the past 20 years I have mostly painted the Craigeburn/Arthurs Pass area in oil. I am very familiar with the colour temperature of this area and how this changes throughout the seasons. Applying these colours to canvas to create a realistic scene is a fun and rewarding process.
I really look forward to sharing my best tips and tricks with you during the retreat.
Itinerary
Craigieburn Valley is nestled between Lake Pearson and the Waimakariri river overlooking the picturesque Lake Grasmere. We will spend 2 days discovering these surroundings and paint the picturesque Lake Grasmere, whilst enjoying fabulous food from Chef Glenn.
In order for you to gain as much value as possible from our time together, we will paint Lake Grasmere onto a printed giclee canvas where the relatively easy yet time-consuming underpainting has already been done for you.
